Confucius Says...

A disciple asked Confucius about government.

Confucius said. “See to it that there is enough food, enough arms, and the trust of people in the government.”

The disciple asked. “if one of the remaining two unavoidably had to be omitted, which of the three would be first?”

Confucius said “omit arms.”

The disciple asked “if one of the remaining two unavoidably had to be omitted, which would be first?”

Confucius said “omit food. Since ancient times people have died, but nothing can be established without the trust of the people.” (12:7)

Confucius' philosophy deals with "personal and governmental morality, correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity."
