Freedom Demands Your Awareness

Slavery is not a product of external circumstances it is an internal projection of the bonds placed on us by our fears and that need to contain our experience of the divine in our humanity by numbing ourselves to its awareness.

When Harriet Tubman said 'I freed a thousand slaves and I could have freed a thousand more if only they knew they were slaves.'  She fully understood and expressed the self imprisonment that surrounds our days and the fear of stepping outside of the enslaver of our thinking into freedom. Yes, metaphorical death may be necessary because stepping into the unknown onward to freedom requires the journey into the unknown.

David Foster Wallace spoke of this enslavement that numbs the self into unconsciousness until awareness sets in, with his "This is water" speech before a graduating class of college students urging them to find their water of experience, to step into their lives with great curiousity and courage in a spirit of adventure by staying awake to life... "And I submit that this is what the real, no-bullshit value of your liberal arts education is supposed to be about: how to keep from going through your comfortable, prosperous, respectable adult life dead, unconscious, a slave to your head and to your natural default setting of being uniquely, completely, imperially alone day in and day out."

Life demands you live it.  Awake and aware. Don't go quietly to the couch, ignoring what is necessary to ignite the spark of your soul.

"This selling yourself to your own mind does not befit you, my soul. You are infinite, deathless, birthless. Because you are infinite spirit, it does not befit you to be a slave. ... Arise! Awake! Stand up and fight! Die if you must. There is none to help you. You are all the world. Who can help you?" Swami Vivekananda

This is as true then as it is now.  Self compassion and self love requires that you do as Harriet Tubman offers up...

"If you hear the dogs, keep going. If you see the torches in the woods, keep going. If there's shouting after you, keep going. Don't ever stop. Keep going! If you want a taste of freedom, keep going!" -Harriet Tubman

Perfect advice as we head into these new days ahead that will demand all of us to demonstrate with our lives - perfect strength and peace and love.

Allow the truth to set in. Allow the truth to set you free. Even if it isn't immediately. Allow the truth to bring you a vision that matches what lives and breathes in your heart beneath and beyond the prison of your past understanding.

Have a wonderful one!
lots of Love

Melanie
