Love Activism is a movement of the heart. It is the constant gardening of our soul work to evolve our humanity. A few things to keep in mind - anytime you are in judgment you are limiting the solutions. Anytime you are defending you are dimming the possibilities available in every moment. We’ve all experience jolts to our systems, perhaps you are feeling a call for deeper contemplation, perhaps a spring to action comes up in your heart, perhaps a persistent thought to get more involved in creating community. Maybe you are feeling inspired. However you are feeling our communities need less criticism and more love, less judgment and more kindness.

Love Activism needs you.

What's it going to be?  What have you done for somebody today?

The 21st Century loving, empathic hearts are rooted and taking a stand, rising up in this moment and the next calling bullshit. Thank you for being a part of our ongoing efforts to create deeper community actions, tell stories that heal and inspire and share love in ways that enrich and uplift and ground our collective heart.

In the heart of the City of Angels there is an organization committed to the wellness of all, by providing local, healthy, sustainable choices  to nourish and expand the conversation into the question,' What would the world be like if we brought light to a puzzling, and at times confusing, area of our economies, How, in a highly profitable world, are we not able to care for our communities and contribute to our collective overall health and wellness?

Los Angeles Food Policy Council (LAFPC) synergizes the varied connections in building a sustainable and equitable regional food system for all Angelenos.  They are a voice for justice in local economies, standing for clarity in the Los Angeles farm, food, justice communities.  

Los Angeles is a uniquely sprawling major city comprised of different counties, neighborhoods and communities that require thoughtful collaboration to enact policies that bring balance to a food infrastructure. Utilizing wisdom traditions, community support and involvement, inclusionary practices focused on collaboration and inclusion - where every voice counts LAFPC is a light in the movement for food justice for all. The Council is seen as a model for other cities and communities through their tireless work to manage the organziational challeneges of our system of governeement and beautiful policies that nourish our communities and citizens.

Why Life is Always a Testament of Hope. Mels Love Land #MiniMag Issue 10 | Love Everyone

My nephew would bust into every room he entered and say "I have a great idea." Believe me, not all of his ideas were great.

I applaud his verve and I appreciate and celebrate him, he was born that way and was given the gifts of compassion and empathy and balance to go along with his idea full mind. Thoughts become form. The ends are inherent in the means. You find what you are looking for. Everyone is here for a reason. Each relationship, action, creates an equal and opposite re-action.

Transformation is underway. We are learning the ways of a Trump less world as he showcases all of the people, ideas, energies, systems that are old minded, not of the people and have no concept of joy and love being at the center of all our well being. Fear and loathing, hate and hypocrisy are being revealed for deeper holding, more love and we are experiencing a release into what is possible. 

New spaces, where open hearted grace leads the way, where you don't know everything, where ideas are the soldiers of new joy systems.  Where we do not need more, so you have less. Wake into a new now where you can experience yourself, your life, your love, knowing you are powerful beyond measure.

It is a wonderful world, filled with wonderful people and when we meet our fears with an open heart. When we hold space beyond the tyranny and the bombasticness where each of us has the privilege of waking up to what they have been asleep to justice and kindness and love remain. What action are you called to do.

You can imagine someone who has succeeded in building, creating, one kind of business by projecting an image, whose personality has yielded results independent of being of service to anyone other than himself, whose every thought was catered to, who no one said "No" to saying -- 'Hey, the two party system has created alot of poop sandwiches. I could do a better job than those boobs.'  I' know how to build things. I could build something better than what is going on. I could save the day.'  A person so caught up in his own magnan-ignoramousness that he related sitting in his gold lilted tower yelling back at Fox News claimed as experience that He knows what to do. While it is understandable. It is unacceptable.

Right now. We are given a great opportunity.... To Experience the world without a Trump. Without a greed driven, money centered, patriarchal view of things through a lens of fear.

The blessing of his unmagnanimous life, is the realization without it and him and the thinking that created it and him. The world is really a wonderful place. It really is a wonderful world.

There is something in the air and all of us are being called to help fix what is broken. Yes, we have all contributed to the mess we see. Yes we can all do better than we are doing. There is no doubt a shift is occurring, people are waking up and we are in our connectedness arriving at the mountaintop for deepening our collective heart and stepping forward with a healed world.

We are witnessing the fall of fear.  Fear is up to be loved, understood and its oppressive energies released. Every story, every major newscast is showcasing it.

It is not the midnight of our discontent It is our eleventh hour of grace where we change course and establish a world where enough is enough. Where we don't need more so someone has less. Where we think about the whole in balance, without grabbing unnecessarily because we can. Where we see the illusions for what they are, where we stand together sharing our gifts and celebrating each other. Where we are kinder to each other than we were the day before, where love is brought to every situation and we allow a gentleness into the process of this new world we are entering together.

Where we create towers and walls and avoid transformation of our fear monsters we remain stuck in an old paradigm. Release all of it today. Gentle both, the old world and the new. Allow a grace to enter the conversation and allow actions to be loving and do not buy into someone's blustering. Let the winds of change bring you to the center of your own inner power and light and stand up, take action, be love in a new way, today and everyday.

ALLOW YOUR HEART TO ACHE, ALLOW YOUR MIND TO STAY OPEN, AWAKEN TO THE DEEP RIVER OF CONNECTION TO FLOW. 
DO NOT BE FOOLED BY ILLUSIONS OF FEAR AND HATE.

One of the great liabilities of life is that all too many people find themselves living amid a great period of social change, and yet they fail to develop the new attitudes, the new mental responses, that the new situation demands. They end up sleeping through a revolution" From the last Sunday Sermon delivered by Martin Luther King Jr. at the National Cathedral in Washington DC.

Hiding in the bosom of the cult of culture is not going to do it. No more living in the delusion of separation and being different. No more blinders. It is time for the truth.  Until all of us on this planet are peaceful, none of us can experience true happiness. It is a wholeness pattern, within each of us is light and dark and as we embrace and embody ourselves is the awakeness of now in love.

When Love and Fearlessness meet you bare witness to the revolution of your heart. The timeless intersection between these two allows as Socrates said for "the outer and inner man to be as one" striking your unique and perfect note. As these notes join together the stirrings of our collective heart become a radiating social force bringing each of our inner struggles and personal journeys into the larger unfolding experience, giving context and allowing nature to enact its most beautiful elegant outflow beyond the gravity of our day to day. Recognizing our commonalities. Recognizing our note in the song of the universe enabling the harmony of our practice of humanity, that connection we yearn for to truly resonate with each other.

In this space of human destiny where our perfect tone vibrates in harmony with our being the entire universe rejoices animating the universal heavenly symphony, this sound of our celestial DNA to move as Wordsworth said 'in one society' in service to our deepest most authentic self.

The childish Glee with which people are acting out is troubling. Don't confuse entertainment with truth. Don't confuse your POV with reality. Don't think becasue you are angry you can act hurtfully, judging everyone. This is taking place across the spectrum, across the world, right, left, up down, kids, adults, preachers, pope's, pundits, pacificsts, athiests, agoraphobs, and religio-phobes. We need to shift geers. We need to stop it. Right now. and learn to take loving action.  

REMAIN AWAKE. REMAIN AWARE. DO NOT ALLOW YOUR VISION TO BE OBSCURED. LET LOVE LEAD THE WAY.  FOLLOW THE FEELS AND RYTHYM OF THE HEART.

The power of our collective heart means when one of us celebrates we all celebrate, when one of us forgives we all benefit from that forgiveness.  Each life touches so many others because we are all connected. Every act of love resonates and expands naturally. Every act of forgiveness burns karma and connects to the deep river of our humanity shifting the world in wonderfully positive ways.

Since I'm unofficially a quarter Jewish, I feel blessed to be able to particip

ate with my Jewish friends and family in many of their ceremonies.

Yom Kippur is a beautiful time to cleanse the energy of the past, and rest in the oneness of spirit and community alongside the rest of our human tribe. I love this opportunity to clear that which we no longer have to carry.

These words in Hebrew with English Translation jump from the process and strike to the core of why it is a power day and celebration in the Book of Life.

V'ahavta I'rayakha ~ and you shall have love in your heart,
V'ahavta kamokha ~ for yourself and your friends,
V'ahavta ani hashem ~ to create a world of hope and peace,

Today I think of all my friends, past and present, I think of my family, I think about the many people I have met as I travel through the world, I think about a lot of things. But mostly, I think about how grateful I am, grateful to be able to experience grace and humor and love, everyday.

Each of us finds our own way on the path of the peaceful spiritual warrior, "capable of wrestling with Life without being defeated by living."

This past year I have been the beneficiary of a huge mitzvot. Beging able to experience giving and receiving in equal measures, being able to share myself and all the love with all of you.   For all of this I am grateful.

Tomorrow is a new day, but for this moment, I honor and celebrate the truth... I ask for forgiveness for all the transgressions, known and unknown.  I atone for all interactions that were not filled with love and I stand in peace and joy and love with all that is.

We live in a world full of love, and spirit and vitality and most importantly eternal joy.

I look forward to seeing what lays ahead.

May the grace of God

The Constant Motion of Peace Beyond all Stillness. Tips from the Still Point of Mel.

This wonderful world we live in where everything unfolds and is understood for the sacredness of its essence swirling before us is the work of faith in compassionate positioning where we trust the perfection of the divine plan for our lives. 

What a Wonderful World written by Bob Thiele and George David Weiss and performed originally by Louis Armstrong, shares the joy of natures constant motion perfect stillness and the beauty of a way of being.

I see skies of blue,

And clouds of white.

The bright blessed day,

The dark sacred night.

And I think to myself,

What a wonderful world.

Flood your vision with love creating a vision of the world that explodes with radiance, like the light in the trees, glowing with compassion.  This is what compassionate positioning means.  You make a choice to create a stance in the world where you are able to be in a space of compassion and Love and look into the eyes of those who are suffering and feel their suffering without losing your center. When you know your own center, you are in stillness with the truest space of your being allowing you to understand in every situation the space you are holding, and from that space you remember your job is to extend Love. You are not taking on another’s karma, you are merely dealing with your own, and in your knowing of this one detail, you allow other people to grow into their knowing.

They're really saying......I love you. 

Step into the space of truth allowing a higher thought pattern of love permeate your conversations, allow a space for our collective humanity above the "battlefield" and petty tyrannies of fear.  Try for a today no matter what someone may say, to take the loving thought of, "They are really saying, I love you."

In the midst of your life is a space of stillness. A space where you can hear everything that is in service to that beautiful garden of your being. Living from that space delivers a life to its purpose eradicating the effect of chaos to knock you off course. 

In getting to know the full extent of the accordances of your authentic self with this stillness, holding the intention to be free of fearful illusions of harm, living in full harmony and equality with the truth, you create a space of freedom by your example for all brothers to step into in the light of Love.

Move into the experience of full and equal human rights in our communities and around the planet.  Trust there is a divine plan for all of us and judgment is not necessary, compassionate action is.  

Think to yourself, at all times, what a wonderful life, and celebrate all of it, in the faces of people passing by, and enjoy my favorite part 'everyone is really saying "I love you."

There is great power in the actions of love and in remembering It is ALL a wonderful world with room for everyone, possibilities for more and more peace expand naturally through all of the expressions of love.

Enjoy the Hummingbird of Happiness, the powerful Esperanza Spalding's performance from the 84th Annual Academy Awards In Memoriam.  So many legends that meant so much to so many crossed over in 2012.  As always it was that ethereal impactful reminder of what lives beyond our perceptions, the touching mix of singer and media creating a most a loving and harmonious tribute to a legion of heroes who inspire us.

Inequality Anywhere is a Threat to Equality Everywhere...

I woke up this morning hearing the above words ringing in my head.  "Inequality Anywhere is a Threat to Equality Everywhere..."

Of course, once I had my coffee and remembered the source of this thought, Martin Luther King's "Injustice anywhere, is a threat to justice everywhere" from his Letter from Birmingham Jail, April 16, 1963 I understood you can not jail an idea, you can not jail the truth, chains do not stop an idea whose time has come.  An idea is stronger than any army. In holding the light with love you understand each action counts, each injustice matters and each time an act of separation and segregation and hatred takes place it is our job to not allow it to stand as a monument and take root.  It is our job to halt it and showcase it for the ineffectual threat it is to our state of grace and set it right shifting the course of our peaceful destiny action by action. It is our job to shine light on the experience with love returning to the ground of truth.

This paradigm works with anything, a way for a shift to remember every action of fear has a fearful result and NOW is the time to shift to LOVE.

Hate anywhere is a threat to love everywhere... etc.  Every action counts and creates a reaction.  What we put into something is what comes out.  Everyday my work is to create more love in my life and the lives of those I come into contact with.  It isn't like, 'wow, look at how cool I am because I am being loving,' it is, 'Gosh, what I am seeing is not okay and I can not sit idly by, how can a look at this situation with love?'  We are facing a complicated age of needing to take loving action every day to reveal the patience of responding beyond the reactions.

Be brave, little by little, in your center, no loathing, no arrogance all love, action by action, thought by thought.  Take a stand for what you know to be true.  If you are a witness to unkindness, injustice, inequality, in-nanity, let your heart share the message of truth in gentle compassion for what needs to be shared in the most loving way.

When one of us is disparaged, all of us suffer.  Each slight is registered and When the sword is thrust at someone it falls on us.  This is the time to stand in love and to release what no longer needs to chain our tomorrows.

Life is a gift of being awake.  Awake to bare witness and to remember the truth.  Allow your relationships to be free of the past, allow the present to be something miraculous.  Allow this moment to live and breath in all its glory simply by remembering the truth.  Love does not change.  There is not love in categories. Love makes right action.

It makes me think about this quote "The holiest of all spots on earth is where an ancient hatred has become a present love."  

Hatred can not exist in Love.  Love changes every equation and equals itself.  Let love lead the way.  

LOVE ANYWHERE EXPANDS LOVE EVERYWHERE!

Through our relationships in compassionate action nurtured with love come the inspirations of our tomorrows, not of the past, in the present free from the disappointment of past memories.

Today let us be thankful. We have come to gentler pathways and to smoother roads. There is no thought of turning back, and no implacable resistance to the truth.

Experience a shift in your perceptions, make a commitment to compassion allowing your heart to dance in full display of your soul's code.   

Coming from a news background I get irritated when I read or watch the current state of what is considered news and the exchange of information where open letters become the basis of reality to cement a position rather than enliven action to make change. I am tired of the spirit of journalism being reduced to opinions and statements based on beliefs that have long ago been lost in the evolution of humanity.

It is impossible to rely on objectivity or balanced reporting, you have to apply "the filter" whatever it is to create a reasonable facsimile of the actual truth.  Getting past the judgments and illusions of hatred.   There are so many outlets for information, the splintering effect has diluted the impact of a resonating truth.  This does not mean it does not live and breath in your being.  It means it has never been more important than to learn the language of the heart and to remember the message lies within as does peace of mind and peace on earth.

Shifting to an attitude of enough, where each action that is not right minded gets stopped in its tracks, brought into the light of love to remember.  Actions are weapons that lead us to heaven or hell.  It is always our choice.  A choice we can exercise with maximum love.

It's been a powerful week...

Monday - Martin Luther King Jr. - We celebrated our Freedom
Tuesday - Inaguration Day - We most certainly celebrated Change
Today - The First Day of a New Era - We fly into Action

There are many things about Barack Obama's Inagural Address that struck chords... but. what I remember most was was one word -- imagination.

For the first time in a long time the imagination of this country is activated. The imagination of the nations artists, and poets, and dreamers. The singers, and the actors, and the show people are back in force. We have a place to contribute our time and talents. A place once again to stretch into new possibilities.

A power has been unleashed, a power to move mountains. the power of belief.

Freedom. Change. Action.

Where we got it wrong. We're going to make a correction. And get it right.

Onward...



ps. I love Bono... and. the fact that he isn't American is part of the movement of positive human color-blind-ness, being borderless, embracing oneness and working as humans. America's song is everyone's song. Thanks to the Oprah gang for putting it together.
